Hello, I am trying to solve the following problem:
Imagine we have an infinitely long I-beam where one flange face is fixed onto a floor (with different material properties). We have a mechanical impactor and a receiving sensor at approximately the same location on the opposite flange face to the floor.
The mechanical impactor will generate p-waves which travel through the thickness of the I-beam cross-section, reflect at the interface between the bottom flange and the floor, then be seen by the receiving sensor.
I would like to setup a model to determine the time it takes for the p-waves to be seen by the receiving sensor after a mechanical impact. Is this possible to do with k-wave? If yes, can anyone provide a brief outline on how to achieve this?
