I am a new user of k-wave. My question is very general, about ultrasound imaging and I would be very glad if someone could kindly help me.
step 1: the transducer focuses on the first line of an image (for example in one depth, in the middle of the imaging depth) and transmits an ultrasound wave.
step 2: the transducer elements receive the backscattered signals.
step 3: the received signals are added together with appreciate delays to create the beamformed signal for the image line
I have a problem here! the problem is:
do we add the signals to each other with different delays for each point of the line? or we just add the signals together with one specific delay, corresponding to the delay for the focal point? I know that each point of the line has different delays. but if we use different delays for different points of the line, so what is the concept of using a line of the image anymore? because I think if we use different delays for different points, there is nothing named image line anymore, right?! and more importantly, how the envelope of the "image line" can be detected in the next step in this way?
What I am trying to say is it:
if we add signals of the elements with different delays for each point of the image line together, so the number of the beamformed signals for each line should be equal to the number of points of the image line, not just one per image line!
and if we just add the signals together with the delay for one point of the image line (focal point), I think it won't be true, because the delays for each point of the image line is different, right?
anyway, I hope I have been able to convey my point!
