Hi,
My name is Rob and I have a quick question before I delve deeper into this toolbox. I study petroleum engineering and I was wondering if it was possible to include properties of materials of the borehole environment into these simulations including metal from the casing, cement, rocks, and fluids of different properties. I'm trying to design a simulation to describe the response of distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) which is a fiber optic cable deployed downhole and can be used as a distributed acoustic receiver. I can model the fiber as a having a pickup pattern of the order of cos^2. I want to be able to simulate how the fiber would respond to different acoustic stimuli if deployed open hole, strapped along the inside of the casing, and cemented in place along the outside.
Also how difficult do you think this will be for me with minimal experience. I did a BS in Physics and took a course on theoretical acoustics. I have basic Matlab skills.
Thank you for your time. I really appreciate any input as if this kind of simulation is doable, I certainly will be devoting a lot fo time to this.
Have a nice day.
