   Hi Bradley,

   In the temperature calculation, the total volume rate of heat deposition is calculated from shear and compressional based heat depositions. Therefore, I was expecting to get the same temperature rise when I calculated it from the addition of compressional and shear based heat deposition. To be more specific, when I calculate the total temperature rise from a total heat deposition and the addition of shear and compressional based heat deposition, the results are different. I was wondering if there are nonlinear factors between these calculations.

   Hi Prof. AK,

   I agree - I would expect the summation of the change in temperature to be the same in both cases (if you subtract the background) as the solution is linear. Are your heat source terms literally Q1, Q2, Q3 = Q1 + Q2, and then you compare (T1 - T0 + T2 - T0) with (T3 - T0)? What is your setting for the blood temperature if you're using perfusion?

   Bradley,

   Yes, this is how I arranged my heat source terms. I assume that the main heat source is a solid medium because I assign zero absorption for the blood medium. I use constants below:

   Blood density = 1040 kg/m^3
   Blood thermal conductivity = 0.60 W/(m.K)
   Blood specific heat = 3650 J/(kg.K)
