I am working on elastic wave propagation using k-wave. I did simulation in 2d and 3d of model of uniform shape ,such as rectangle thin plate, and the result is good.I wonder if k-wave can simulate model of other shapes such as a circle or a thin plate with a curved boundary. I appreciate any information that helps.

Hi Li_x,
The numerical method used in k-Wave is based on a uniform Cartesian grid, so provided you can represent your medium on such a grid, then it is straightforward to model other shapes. The sound speed and density are defined as matrices the same size as the computational grid, and these can be modified to contain a discretised representation of your geometry. For curved surfaces, one thing to keep in mind is errors due to staircasing. In this case, I would recommend performing a convergence test so that you have some confidence the results of your simulations are not dependent on the grid parameters.

Thank you for your reply. I figured it out following your advice. The problem for now is the simulation took several hours. I wonder if any C++ code available for pstd function? Any information is appreciated.

Hi Li,
At this stage there is no C++ version of the elastic codes. It's on the development plan, however, I can't promise when they'll eventually be written and released!
