Dear sir or madam,
How many grids I need in a wavelength to run the acoustic simulation?

Hi Yu,
It depends on a number of factors, particularly if your medium is heterogeneous. For linear wave propagation in a lossless and homogeneous medium, the simulation is exact down to 2 points per wavelength, although you'll need at least 3 points per wavelength for the PML to work correctly (see here). For a heterogeneous medium with small variations in the material properties, you'll need 4 or 5 points per wavelength to get accurate reflection coefficients (see here). This will increase for large impedance changes. Finally, if you are trying to represent a curved interface, you may need significantly more to avoid staircasing artefacts. I'd advise doing a convergence test by halving the grid size and checking whether you get the same answer.
Hope that helps,
Brad.
