   Hello, all,

   I am now doing a project related to automobile used ultrasonic sensors. Such as the ultrasonic sensors used in Parking assistant systems. I would also like to simulate the ultrasound propagation. The most significant difference would be the detect range(0.2m to 2m). Also the atmosphere is different. I wander is it possible to use this toolbox? Anyone has any similar experiences or suggestions?

   HI Jiaying,

   You can definitely use k-Wave for simulations in air. However, you will need to be careful when defining heterogeneous medium properties. The impedance change from air to brick or steel (for example) is much much greater than the impedance changes encountered in the human body, for which k-Wave was originally designed. If it's just range finding that you're interested in (rather than exactly modelling the transmission from air into a solid material), you could get around this by lowering the impedance of the solid material, e.g., by defining a higher sound speed in the solid material, but leaving the density matched to air.
