   Hello,
   I am a first time user of K-wave, and a 3rd year Physics Undergraduate. I am having a lot of difficulties with k-wave (I am an experimental student, and due to COVID-19 I cannot run my experiment in the lab, so am attempting to simulate it).

   My project is to attempt to vary the input signal for any type of standard transducer to produce square, triangular and asymmetric wave pulses instead of sinusoidal. I want to see how this will affect the overall image quality for two phantoms in generated B-mode images.

   I am currently trying to work through the 'defining an ultrasound transducer' examples. I am looking for a clear explanation on how to do the above easily, and maybe some regular support from an experienced user (if kind enough), so I may ask any related questions.

   If you have the Signal Processing Toolbox, you can use several functions already built into MATLAB such as sin, sawtooth and square to create your time-varying input signal (source.p). You could also experiment with pulstran plus one of tripuls, rectpuls and gauspuls, or with certain functions from the Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox such as normpdf, raylpdf, poisspdf, etc. (this is obviously an "off-label" use of such sophisticated functions). The possibilities are endless. After defining a new input signal, just rerun your k-Wave simulations and use some quality metric (this could be your visual inspection) to assess the results.

   Please notice that simulating, say, a sawtooth pressure waveform is quite different from electrically driving an actual transducer with a sawtooth signal.
