   Hi all,

   I am simulating a square ultrasound field with a linear array of transducers with elevation (height). The kWaveTransducer seems to require a z-direction (thus 3D) to make it work. However, as my simulation is essentially in 2D, the dimension of the elevation does not matter at all. I'm wondering if it's possible to use kspaceFirstOrder2D when simulating the field, instead of kspaceFirstOrder3D, which is very time consuming?

   Hi Annie,

   Wave propagation in 2D and 3D are different - a point source in 2D is equivalent to an infinite line source in 3D, and thus will experience cylindrical rather than spherical spreading. There are some more details in the Photoacoustic Waveforms in 1D, 2D and 3D Example.
