Simulate cardiac ultrasound scan

Hello,

I'm trying to simulate a diagnostic ultrasound scan of a beating heart.
I have the 3D points describing the moving cardiac volume from a simulation. I can create a kwave grid containing the 3D points at time=0 and assigning the appropriate medium properties

Is it possible to simulate the motion of the 3D points within the grid?

Simply changing the spatial distributions of the medium properties for the next timesteps does not seem to be a correct solution.

I found this old thread http://www.k-wave.org/forum/topic/simulate-moving-medium and k-wave did not support moving media at the time.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ssemion,

The motion of the heart is presumably much slower than the travel time for the ultrasound waves. In this case, you could simulate a series of static B-mode ultrasound images (using the heart in different positions), and then stitch these together to show the heart motion.

Incidentally, there is still no support for time varying media.

I am trying to simulate transducers for therapeutic purposes, and it would be extremely valuable to me simulate in a heart/thorax model environment.

Could you help me? With your 3D model or with how did you obtain it?
