   Hi all,

   I recently started using the source and sensor classes instead of the kWaveTransducer one. All my simulations use 3D grids. My first question is how would you place the sensors and sources to simulate the height of a transducer element? Say, if one element is 40 grid points tall, then should I feed all 40 source points that make up this element with the same pressure signal? Should all of these 40 source points be sensor points as well? And if so, should the signal detected by the 40 sensors be averaged to achieve the signal detected by the entire element?

   My next question is regarding elevation focusing. I know kWaveTransducer uses additional delays to simulate an elevation focussed beam. Can you shed some light on how to compute these delays to achieve the correct focusing? Or point to some lines in code where that is computed, as I can't seem to find them...

   Hi jr20,
   If your grid is finely meshed, I think you can use the most central point to signal to the surrounding points,this seems to produce some slight errors.The second question you want can be found in the kwave booklet,in addition, I think fcous can achieve the sound beam you want.

   Hi João,

   Yes, you would feed all 40 grid points the same signal, use the same points as sensor points, and then average these to get the sensor signal.

   The elevation focussing is embedded deep into the code as part of the time loop (a different index to the driving signal is used for each grid point). There is some explanation in the k-Wave manual.
