I believe this is due to the fact that the underlying equations follow newtons third law, so the generation of a wave in one direction must result in an opposing wave, as seen in your simulations.
One way to eliminate this effect is to take a similar approach to the design of an ultrasound transducer, whereby you create a medium on one side of your source which minimizes the reflection of ultrasound and absorbs the wave propagating into it, preventing reflections inside the structure.
This can also be easily accomplished by placing the source next to the perfectly matched layer in your media, as both are designed to achieve the same effect.
