I'm simulating the ultrasound propogation in water using a broadband transducer. But I'm still not sure about the attenuation value after searching some papers. Could anyone help provide a reference about it?
I set the two values as below, but I'm not sure.
medium.alpha_coeff = 0.002; % [dB/(MHz^y cm)]
medium.alpha_power = 2;

Hi wen! According to Kinsler's Fundamentals of Acoustics, 4th ed, page 218, the acoustic absorption of pure water should be around 0.00217 f^2 [dB/cm], with the wave frequency f given in MHz. The attenuation coefficient should be close to that, given the nature of water. I would think the values you indicated are pretty good.
