Recently I use the k-Wave toolbox to implement the adjoint method for the inverse source problems with wave equations. In each iteration, since the amplitude of the signal at each grid point is different, I need to assign source.p at every grid point, even if the signal at every point is the same but the amplitude. Is there any way to avoid this? Any help is appreciated!

Hi JwJJJ,
Not at the moment. You have to set individual time series for each source point. I can't immediately see why you would have the situation in which you have the same time series except for the amplitude when implementing an adjoint model. Usually the input to an adjoint model is a residual or measured data. Also, usually adjoint models only require sources where you have detectors, eg. on a measurement surface, not at all grid points.
Best wishes
